Moving interstate seems so big and scary now: overwhelmed by movers’ costs, running around to connect utilities and worrying over employment. The silver lining though, comes from immeasurable trust and love in my partner, and his love for the great city of Melbourne! Small town girl - moving to the city, it’s the tagline of so many films, and while i don’t lust after fame and fortune (well… fortune wouldn’t be so terrible) i have to admit that the excitement is starting to creep in. The more time i spend immersed in the art/craft/cafe/crazy tram world, the more i grow to love it!

Loving someone from afar is the hardest thing to go through. When you curl up in bed at night and you reach over to the spot they last slept, your heart cries out. No matter what you do or say to each other the pain of missing them can become overwhelming - i should know, this i show my partner & I live.

Some days though, when i get a card or a letter in the post, it fills my heart and i feel that even though he is 1100km away, he is still holding on tight.

Paper Nation - Long Distance Love

I was never on the ‘Keep Calm’ bandwagon, in fact the only slogan that interested me was telling me to eat a cupcake. These images pop up everywhere now from facebook, car stickers, posters to phone screen wallpapers. Popularity and ease win out over real imagination and creativity is passed over for the hype of a ‘new’ version of the same damn thing. If your walls are screaming out for something more, take a look at my Etsy Treasury List full of original designs, vibrant colours and messages with substance!

I think that every person you meet you fall in love wtih. Just a little bit. And a piece of them always stays with you. So overtime you collect people, and maybe you don’t remember every single one, but that doesn’t mean that they haven’t affected you. For better or for the worse. They changed you.

Being tender and open is beautiful. As a woman, I feel continually shhh’ed. Too sensitive. Too mushy. Too wishy washy. Blah blah. Don’t let someone steal your tenderness. Don’t allow the coldness and fear of others to tarnish your perfectly vulnerable beating heart. Nothing is more powerful than allowing yourself to truly be affected by things. Whether it’s a song, a stranger, a mountain, a rain drop, a tea kettle, an article, a sentence, a footstep, feel it all – look around you. All of this is for you. Take it and have gratitude. Give it and feel love.

I wonder.

Many people suppressed their feelings in order to keep peace with others. As a result, they settled for a mediocre existence and never became who they were truly capable of becoming. Many developed illnesses relating to the bitterness and resentment they carried as a result.

We cannot control the reactions of others. However, although people may initially react when you change the way you are by speaking honestly, in the end it raises the relationship to a whole new and healthier level. Either that or it releases the unhealthy relationship from your life. Either way, you win.

"Nothing is original. Steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination. Devour old films, new films, music, books, paintings, photographs, poems, dreams, random conversations, architecture, bridges, street signs, trees, clouds, bodies of water, light and shadows. Select only things to steal from that speak directly to your soul. If you do this, your work (and theft) will be authentic. Authenticity is invaluable; originality is non-existent. And don’t bother concealing your thievery- celebrate it if you feel like it. In any case, always remember what Jean-Luc Godard said: "It’s not where you take things from- it’s where you take them to"".
